Realist Narrative

This advert tries to relate to people who are interested in exercise and sport, and mainly people who try to motivate themselves when exercising, which is exactly what is shown in this advert. They try to relate to their target audience at 0:03 where there is a voice over, which sounds like a voice in someones head when they try to motivate themselves to continue exercising, which is exactly what they show at 0:12. By doing this it makes the audience feel more engaged in the advert, since they have been through situations that are happening in the advert, it makes the advert more enjoyable for them to watch.

Anti Realist Narrative

Anti realist narrative adverts are adverts that have content that would not occur in the real world, and is usually made to seem unrealistic and strange, compared to realist narrative adverts. In this advert they intentionally try to be very unusual, and have a man act very strange, while eating ice cream off of his head at 0:21, and unrealistically it seems that the icecream does not seem to be melting. Due to the weirdness of someone eating ice cream off of their own body, it seems very unusual for this to happen in the advert, which is what makes it so memorable for the audience, since the unusual content makes this advert stand out from other adverts.

Animated

Animated adverts are lineally just adverts that are fully animated on computers, and are typically aimed towards children, due to their cartoon style, it appeals to children more than adults. By making adverts animated, they typically aim to their target audience, since this advert is for children, since it is for chocolate, by having it animated, they are able to do things that would not occur in the real world, such as having penguins working in the factory would seem funny to their target audience, since they know it could never happen in the real world.

Documentary

Documentary adverts are types of adverts that are made like documentaries. In this advert they talk about how the eggs are not fake at 0:30,and it would be much easier to have fake eggs, but they would not be as good if they were fake. These type of adverts are made to inform the audience more about the product.

Talking Heads

Talking head adverts are types of adverts that have people talk about the product that the advert is for, and they give their opinions on the product. In this advert they have an old woman talk about two teas that her husband likes at 0:03, and she gives her opinion on the tea at 0:12 she explains that she does not even like tea which adds humour to the advert. The reason why they have people talking about the product in the advert, is so that it can inform the audience if the product is good or not.

Stand Alone

Stand alone adverts are types adverts that only have one advert for their product. This advert has only one advert that is like this, the reason for this is that it makes the advert more memorable for the audience. since there is only one advert that is like this, they will recognise the advert straight away, and they would recognise the product straight away, and by having a memorable advert, they will want the product that the advert is for.

advertising techniques

OVERT/HIDDEN MESSAGE

This advert aims at an audience that is around the age of 25 and above, which is the age range that is shown with the people in the advert, they are focusing on both genders since both men and woman are in the advert, and the interest would be music, and having fun dancing around rooms, which is exactly what is shown in the advert, but they do it on chairs, which adds more humour, and shows that they are still having fun. It is not that clear what location they are focusing on, but just like the ethnicity they show a range of different kinds of people, which shows the chocolate is for everyone.

The technique used in this advert was a hidden message where they do not make it clear that they are trying to make the audience get the product, but they still do it, this technique is shown at the beginning at 0:07 showed multiple people having fun, and then at the end at 0:57 they show the chocolate, which will make the audience think that if they have the chocolate, they will have a lot of fun. just like the people in the advert.

By showing all the people in the advert having fun, and lip syncing to a song it adds humour and appeals to the audience. By showing content that the audience finds funny, it will increase the chances of them getting the product, since they will be thinking that they will have fun when eating the chocolate, since people in the advert are having fun. This is appropriate since chocolate is a comfort food for most people, and by having people dancing around in the advert makes it a lot more enjoyable for the audience.

This advert aims at an audience that is around the age of 5-30 since they show a group of men that are around the age of 30 but end up talking like children around the age of 5, so it could appeal to both age groups. They show nothing about females enjoying the product so they are mainly aiming the product at men. The interests for the advert are mainly sports, since the people in the advert are playing rugby, The location that they are targeting at is america, since the people in the advert are wearing american football outfits, to make it obvious that it is aiming at Americans. They show a lot of people in the advert, but the majority of them are white, so they are mainly targeting at white people.

The technique used here is overt, which is where they make it obvious that they are trying to sell the product to the audience, they do this at 0:04 where they discuss about how the sweets taste, which will make the audience know exactly what they taste like. which would lead to them buying the sweets.

The advert is effective to the audience since they try to make the audience very humorous by having grown men talking like young children, which is very surprising to the audience, since it is not something they would expect from an advert, so it is a very unique way to advertise the product, this makes the advert stand out from other adverts, and makes people remember it more, which would lead to them remembering the product more, and they would want to buy the sweets, because of the advert. This is suitable because Haribo audience is mainly children that buy the sweets, so it is fitting that they have people enjoying the sweets sounding like children.

EMOTIONAL RESPONSE

The advert aims at an audience that is around the age of 30, and aim at people who are parents so they can relate to the situation in the advert. They do not specify any genders in the advert so they are targeting both genders. The interests would be dates, which is a situation some people can relate to. There is no location specified in the advert, so it seems that the product is for everyone. The ethnicity that they are targeting is mainly black people, since they only have black people in the advert.

The technique used in this advert is emotional response which is trying to get a certain emotion out of the audience, in a way to get the audience to feel a certain way, in this case they are trying to be humorous to get the audience to laugh, which would lead to them wanting to get the product.

This advert tries to appeal to the audience by trying to make the audience laugh, by showing a child slap the man because of the dorito's which catches the audience off guard, and by showing something they would not expect, its adds humour to the advert.

This advert aims at an audience that is around the age of 5-12 since it is a cartoon which would appeal to people of that age group. They do not specify any genders, so the product of for both males and females so it targets both genders. The interests shown in this advert are animal rights, and eating healthy. They do not specify and locations or ethnicity's so they target the product at everyone to enjoy.

The technique used in this advert is emotional response which is trying to get a certain emotion out of the audience, in a way to get the audience to feel a certain way, in this case it tries to get a depressed reaction from the audience, but then ends with a positive vibe to make the audience happy. By having a sad tone in the advert, it is different and stands out from other adverts.

This advert tries to appeal to the audience with an interesting story showing why the product chipotle is better than ordering from fast food restaurants that serve animal products. This is an advert that animal activists can relate to and support, and those who care about animals will enjoy the advert even more. This is appropriate because by setting a sad tone, it fits in with the message about how animals get treated in the food industry.

CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENT

This advert targets people that are around the age of  7-30, since those are the age groups shown in the advert. They do not specify any genders in this advert, but the people shown the most in the advert are woman, so it seem that they are mainly aiming their product at woman. They did not specify any genders or ethnicity's in the advert, so it seems that the product is for everyone to enjoy.

The technique used in this advert is called celebrity endorsement, which is where they include a celebrity in the advert, in a normal situation, enjoying the product on a typical day for them, which is used rarely in adverts, since not that many companies are able to include celebrities in their adverts.

This advert appeals to the audience mainly because it includes the celebrity Nicole Sherzinger. Having celebrities in adverts is a very smart strategy to get people to want your product, since if you include a celebrity with a big following, that following will see that the celebrity enjoys the product, which will lead to them thinking that they would like the product as well, which would then lead to them wanting, and getting the product.
